  • This morning I was going through my old email drafts and deleting them.  The majority of the drafts were messages I started and then got interrupted or ran out of steam.  However, there are a significant number of angry or annoyed responses that I thought better of sending.  One of the latter type caught my attention and made me laugh.

This was written in response to one of those insipid inspirational Marine/Armed forces emails that get sent around encouraging us in the fight.  This particular email came in the form of a poem.  I won't make you read it, but I'm sure you can imagine the content.  It was filled with noble thoughts of fighting for the poor and defenseless, being thankful for our freedoms that were won with sweat and blood, and some thoughts on our symbol of freedom, "Old Glory".

Here's my response, it certainly lacks in rhythm, but it does rhyme and it's kind of funny.  Be aware, I might post this on facebook too:
    Reply to From a Marine

    We started a war
    that was unjust
    we lied about reasons
    "It's not oil lust"

    Our young men go fight
    they struggle in vain
    Their leaders are liars
    Isn't that plain?

And yet we had a chance
    to depose the fool
but half our country is stupid
    so four years more rule

  • I posted something and then decided against it. It's just too crude. Go to youtube, look up "business time", rinse, repeat. We prefer the live version which is the first to come up on the search, but they both have merits.

  • THE conversation of fall 07

Some people have difficulty in social situations.  Perhaps you are unsure of what to say to someone with whom this is your first or second conversation.  Follow these instructions and you'll have a surefire conversation for the fall of 2007.  You'll need it because the holiday season is coming.

Step 1.  Go to Radiohead's Website
Step 2.  Purchase "In Rainbows" for whatever price you think is fair
Step 3.  Whenever you don't know what to say to someone don't talk about the weather, rather ask them: "So, what did you pay for the new Radiohead album?"
Step 4.  Rinse, repeat step 3 as necessary
